Tour Plan
Upon your arrival in Changsha, our guide or driver will greet you at the airport or train station. You will then be transferred to start your exploration. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in history at the Hunan Museum. As evening falls, enjoy a relaxing cruise at Orange Island.
Warm Tips
Changsha has a variable climate; please check the forecast and dress appropriately.
The Hunan Museum is a popular attraction; we recommend booking tickets in advance.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes for your visit.
The evening breeze on Orange Island can be cool, so bringing a light jacket is advisable.
Our tour guide will arrange hotel check‑in, and we will gather and depart as scheduled. With sincere respect and admiration, we embark on our journey: “Journey Through History • Tribute to a Great Leader”.
We will visit Yuelu Academy, known as the most renowned of China’s Four Great Ancient Academies. It bears the famous inscription:“Chu is a cradle of talents; the finest ones gather here.”(Approximate duration: 2 hours)
Founded in 976 A.D. (the 9th year of the Kaibao reign of the Northern Song Dynasty) by Zhu Dong, Magistrate of Tanzhou, Yuelu Academy has carried on academic traditions for more than a thousand years, earning its reputation as a “Millennium Academy.” The horizontal plaque inscribed with “Yuelu Academy” was personally written by Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty. It is the largest and best‑preserved ancient academy complex still existing in China.
Yuelu Academy educated generations of outstanding figures dedicated to serving the nation and people, including Wei Yuan, Zeng Guofan, Zuo Zongtang, Guo Songtao, Tan Sitong, Xiong Xiling, Huang Xing, Cai E, and Yang Changji.
Next, we will visit Aiwan Pavilion. Here you may sit quietly, appreciate the timeless charm of the maple woods, and immerse yourself in the peace of nature. Experience the magnificent scenery described in Du Mu’s poem:“I stop my carriage at dusk to admire the maple forest; its frosted leaves glow redder than February flowers.”
The maple leaves at Aiwan Pavilion are half red and half green, half hidden among the trees, embodying the unique simplicity and romance of Chinese landscape culture.
Afterwards, we will take a coach to Shaoshan and transfer to a scenic eco‑friendly bus. We will then visit Mao Zedong Bronze Statue Square. (Approximate duration: 40 minutes)
A solemn commemorative ceremony will be held in front of Chairman Mao’s bronze statue to express our deep respect and remembrance. You may also present flower baskets to pay tribute to the great founder of the People’s Republic of China (optional, at your own expense).
We will then visit the former site of Nan’an Private School to explore revolutionary culture, with a special themed tour: “Lofty Ideals • Sacrifice for the Nation.”
Nan’an Private School is a blue‑brick building with an arched gate. In 1902, Mao Zedong received his early education here. It was the first place where the great leader studied and lived, the origin of his life journey, thoughts, and practice. Let us trace the roots and move forward with firm resolve.
Later, we will visit Former Residence of Mao Zedong.(Free visit; approximate duration: 40 minutes; guides are not permitted to enter for commentary)
Warm reminder: Due to large numbers of visitors, please queue in order and wait patiently.
The former residence is located in Shangwuchang, TudiChong, Shaoshan Township, Shaoshan City. Facing north and backing south, it is a concave‑shaped traditional residential building. The east wing was Mao Zedong’s home, the west wing belonged to his neighbors, and the central hall was shared by both families.
Comrade Mao Zedong was born here on December 26, 1893, and lived here for 17 years.
After the one‑day tour of Shaoshan, we will check in at the hotel for the night.
