Make your own way to the airport and take a flight to Hohhot, the "Blue City"—capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Literally meaning "blue city" in Chinese, Hohhot is renowned as the "Hometown of Grassland Singing and Dancing," "Paradise Grassland," and "China's Dairy Capital."As a key tourism hub, it serves as a gateway to the grasslands in the north, deserts in the west, the Yellow River in the south, and Beijing-Tianjin in the east. Boasting a long history and splendid culture, Hohhot is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. It was also a vital transit point on the Silk Road, Tea Road, and Camel Caravan Route, a region where temple culture thrived, and a frontier where grassland culture meets Yellow River culture, and nomadic civilization blends with agricultural civilization. Our staff will await your arrival at the airport dressed in exquisite Mongolian costumes. Meals on this day are at your own expense, and you will have free time to explore!
After breakfast, take a bus to the AAA-level scenic area Wulan Hada Volcanic Group. Featuring volcanoes formed 10,000 years ago and a starry sky that has shone for 30,000 years, it was listed in Chinese National Geography in 2015. More than 30 volcanoes here are distributed like a string of pearls across the grassland, with the flat terrain fully displaying their majestic silhouettes. As China’s grassland volcanoes, the most recent eruption of one of them occurred over 10,000 years ago. Driving along the highway, you can see the magnificent volcanic cones from afar, with dark red volcanic rocks exposed. Standing atop the nearly 100-meter-high volcanoes and overlooking the sunken craters, you will marvel at nature’s extraordinary craftsmanship. We will visit the volcanoes along the way, and you can optionally experience taking photos in volcanic spacesuits—let us help you fulfill your "moon landing dream"!
After lunch, proceed to the beautiful Huitengxile Grassland (Windmill Grassland) amid laughter and joy. Meaning "cold plateau" in Mongolian, it sits at an altitude of over 1,800 meters and boasts the weather wonder of "snow in June and coolness in the hottest summer months," making it a rare summer resort beyond the Great Wall. As the bus enters the alpine meadow, you will be greeted by gently undulating terrain, layered distant views, scattered cattle and sheep, and vast clouds—does this evoke the pastoral songs in your heart? A special welcome ceremony of "Xiamajiu" (toast upon arrival) is arranged to greet you from afar. Learn to "toast heaven, earth, and ancestors" and feel the boldness of the grassland people! Later, experience horse riding while overlooking Huanghuagou (Yellow Flower Ditch), volcanic ovoos (Mongolian sacred cairns), and herdsmen’s homes. Participate in "must-do activities for an in-depth grassland tour" to enjoy the most essential, in-depth, and authentic Inner Mongolia experience, and feel the courage of the grassland’s horseback nation.
For dinner, we specially arrange Shouba Yangrou (hand-grabbed mutton). After the meal, you can join the grassland bonfire party, singing and dancing with friends from all over the country to enjoy a romantic grassland night! In the evening, stay in characteristic yurts. Step outside to look up at the starry sky—cool night air, bright moonlight like a ribbon. We have prepared star-pointing pens, a grassland essential, for you to find the stars you know. Friends who have long lived in cities will surely be amazed!
After breakfast, tour Huitengxile Grassland. Midsummer is the most beautiful season of the year for Huitengxile: hundreds of wildflowers bloom freely, the thousand-year-old ecological oxygen bar offers fresh and refreshing air, and the charming charm of the 100-million-year-old volcanic geological relics is fascinating. Huitengxile invites you to enjoy the cool summer and feel the charm of nature. "Huitengxile" means "cold plateau" in Mongolian. Adorned with 99 natural lakes, the grassland is known as "Ninety-Nine Springs".
Visit Inner Mongolia Museum—one of the gift projects for the 60th anniversary of Inner Mongolia's founding (free admission, closed on Mondays; if closed, it will be replaced with Baoerhan Buddha Pagoda) to learn about the historical process of the distinctive civilization of grassland ethnic groups (visit duration: about 1 hour). Integrating modern elements with ethnic characteristics, the museum reveals the historical civilization of the northern desert grasslands; it condenses the 100-million-year ecological changes in northern China, allowing you to "face-to-face" with creatures from 3 billion years ago. It is an "encyclopedia" of the development history of grassland civilization.
- Ancient World: Dinosaurs were giants of the ancient animal kingdom. In this exhibition hall, there is a giant dinosaur that has slept for thousands of years—the Chagan Nur Dragon, the largest dinosaur fossil from the Cretaceous period in Asia.
- Underground Treasures: Admire precious mineral resources and rich underground treasures, and feel the vastness and abundance of Inner Mongolia.
- Flying Shenzhou: Step into the home of Shenzhou spacecraft and roam in space.
- Pride of the Grassland: Focusing on Genghis Khan and the Yuan Dynasty, it shows the complete context of nearly a thousand years from the origin of the Mongolian people to the Mongol-Yuan period and then to the Ming and Qing dynasties.
For lunch, taste the nutritious traditional food Shaomai—a time-honored and enduring traditional delicacy in Hohhot.
Take a bus to Dazhao Temple, a major Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in the southern part of Yuquan District, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China, belonging to the Gelugpa sect (Yellow Sect). "Zhao" in Tibetan means "temple". Its original Chinese name was "Hongci Temple", later renamed "Wuliang Temple". Also known as "Silver Buddha Temple" because it enshrines a silver Buddha statue. Dazhao Temple is the earliest built Yellow Sect monastery in Hohhot, and one of the large-scale monasteries built in the early period when Mongolians converted to Yellow Sect, only later than Meidai Zhao in the Mongolian region, exerting a wide-ranging influence in the Mongolian region.
Proceed to Saishang Old Street, located near Dazhao Temple on South Street, Hohhot, an ancient street with architectural styles of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It developed around Dazhao Temple, which was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. There is a horizontal street on the west side of the temple gate, with an archway erected, named Saishang Old Street. Later, check in at the hotel in Hohhot.
After breakfast at the hotel, take a bus to Laoniuwan Yellow River Grand Canyon Tourist Area (including electric shuttle bus; driving time: about 2.5 hours). Located at the core section of the Shanxi-Inner Mongolia Yellow River Grand Canyon and the hinterland of the Yellow River's "ji" (character "几") shape, the tourist area is known as "the First Bend of the Yellow River Under Heaven" and "the Little Three Gorges of the North".Upon arrival, visit Taiji Bend. With a curvature of nearly 270 degrees, it is the most curved bend in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. Resembling a natural Taiji pattern, it is thus named Taiji Bend. This extremely unique "S"-shaped bend is a special river form, presenting a momentum of turning the tide, and is the most breathtaking part of the entire canyon, hailed as "the First Bend Under Heaven".Laoniuwan is famous for Laoniuwan Ancient Castle. Narrow in the west and wide in the east with a rounded tail, it is just like a gourd. The Yellow River enters Shanxi from here, and the Inner and Outer Great Walls converge here. The Shanxi-Shaanxi-Inner Mongolia Grand Canyon starts here, and the towering "River-Viewing Tower" on the cliff top attracts tourists from all over the country.Liuxiangwan (Yangjiachuan Small Canyon) is about 8 kilometers long, 30 to 70 meters high, and 50 to 100 meters wide. Along its landscape line, there are three "S"-shaped loops. The bottom of the canyon is clear green river water, and the top of the cliff is the winding Great Wall.Chengwan (Xiachengwan Ancient City), also known as Ningbianzhou Ancient City, is located in a valley on the east bank of the Yellow River, facing southeast. Adjacent to the Yellow River on one side and surrounded by mountains on three sides, it has always been an important land and water transportation hub and a trading post for commercial exchanges, once prosperous and a strategically important place for military commanders in ancient times. After lunch (included), you can have a distant view of the Ming Great Wall Ruins. The Great Wall in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is about 7,570 kilometers long. Qingshuihe County is rich in Great Wall resources with diverse types and a relatively complete Great Wall system, making it the most representative section of the Ming Great Wall in Inner Mongolia, with 155 kilometers of the Ming Great Wall. People's Daily commented on the Ming Great Wall: "The Ming Great Wall ruins in Qingshuihe County are comparable to Badaling Great Wall both in terms of architectural structure and grandeur."Later, proceed to Balongwan, a niche glacial waterfall. Surrounded by alpine canyons and various exotic rocks and cliffs, the approximately 2-kilometer river course in the entire canyon forms 3 waterfalls, which are called "Longyan" by locals. "Longyan" means the place where dragons live. The three Longyan Waterfalls have different drops, with the highest reaching 20 meters. After the tour, return to Hohhot and check in at the hotel.
After breakfast, take a bus to Xiangsha Bay (Resonant Sand Bay). Located at the eastern end of the Kubuqi Desert in Dalate Banner, Inner Mongolia, it is China’s largest desert tourism, leisure and vacation resort and a national 5A-level scenic area. "Yinken" means "permanent" in Mongolian, and it is one of China’s three major singing sand dunes. The mysterious sand singing phenomenon attracts tourists from home and abroad. Integrating the magnificent desert culture and profound Mongolian heritage, it gathers exciting desert activities and unique ethnic customs, boasting the world’s first desert cableway, China’s largest camel herd, and China’s first-class Mongolian national art troupe.

Here, you can experience the 800-year-old inherited sacrificial rituals of the Darkhad people (including milk sacrifice, wine sacrifice, and tea sacrifice) and feel the profound and ancient sacrificial culture of the Mongolian nation. Its architecture retains the shape characteristics of Genghis Khan’s Eight White Tents. The resplendent mausoleum, like an eagle spreading its wings, showcases the magnificent momentum of an imperial mausoleum. The Darkhad people who guard Genghis Khan Mausoleum have passed down the duty through generations for nearly 800 years, with each person dedicating their entire life to the sacred faith and guardianship. The ever-burning holy lamp for 800 years illuminates the glorious journey of Genghis Khan, the "Pride of the Grassland," in expanding his territory. Lucky visitors may encounter the white reincarnated sacred horse, a symbol of auspiciousness and well-being.Proceed to the national AAAA-level scenic area Kangbashi New Area, Ordos.
