Tour Plan
MorningAssemble at Changsha Railway Station at around 8:00 a.m. to visit Hunan Museum – the Changsha Mawangdui Han Tombs Exhibition (with an in-depth explanation for about 60 minutes plus 30 minutes of free cultural experience). The museum is closed every Monday, and the visit will be changed to the Changsha Jiandu Museum instead. (Please provide the list seven days in advance; if there are no remaining tickets for the basic exhibition of Hunan Museum, the visit will be changed to Qingshuitang or Changsha Jiandu Museum). Then, tour Duzheng Street/Xianzheng Street/Gaozheng Street (30 minutes’ visit) – one of the few preserved historical streets in Changsha. Visit Huogongdian Fire God Temple (if meals are included, a 30-yuan snack coupon for Huogongdian and a complimentary 10% off coupon for the entire store will be issued). Choose seats freely, and recommended snacks to try: stinky tofu, dragon fat pork blood, shredded pork with sanzi (fried dough twists), Hunan vermicelli, etc.
AfternoonAfter lunch, head to Yuelu Mountain/Aiwan Pavilion (about 120 minutes’ visit). Yuelu Mountain is the last peak of the 72 peaks of Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue, dotted with ancient relics and unique customs; Aiwan Pavilion is one of the Four Great Famous Pavilions of China. Then proceed to visit Yuelu Academy (the ticket of 40 yuan per person is included). Next, tour Orange Isle (the round-trip ticket for the small train at 40 yuan per person is included), an inland island in the middle of the Xiangjiang River and the largest urban inland island in Asia. It was the resting place for the young Mao Zedong when he swam in the Xiangjiang River, and also the Orange Isle Head mentioned in Qinyuanchun·Changsha.
After the tour, make your own way from Changsha Railway Station to the pre-booked hotel for check-in.
Morning: Assemble at Changsha Railway Station at around 7:30, then take a bus to Huaminglou Town in Ningxiang City, the former residence of Liu Shaoqi (the ride takes about 90 minutes; electric cart fare is 20 CNY per person, at own expense). Visit Liu Shaoqi's Former Residence/Liu Shaoqi Bronze Statue Square/Liu Shaoqi Memorial Hall (for approximately 90 minutes). Liu Shaoqi's Former Residence faces west with its back to the east, a courtyard farm house built of earth structure; Comrade Liu Shaoqi was born here on November 24, 1898. Later, take a bus to Shaoshan, the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, the founding leader of the People's Republic of China and a revolutionary memorial sacred place (the ride takes about 30 minutes).
Afternoon: After lunch, visit Mao Zedong Square. Wear Chairman Mao badges collectively and hold a solemn memorial ceremony in front of the bronze statue of Chairman Mao to express profound memory and respect for the great man. You may also present flower baskets to the bronze statue of Chairman Mao as a group to pay tribute to the founder of the great People's Republic of China (voluntary expression, expenses at own expense).Visit Mao Zedong's Former Residence (free visit for about 40 minutes; guides are not allowed to enter for explanations. Friendly reminder: There is an endless stream of tourists visiting the former residence, please queue up patiently and in order). The former residence is located at Shangwuchang, Tudichong, Shaoshan Village, Shaoshan Township, Shaoshan City. It faces north with its back to the south, a concave-shaped civil structure building—the east side belongs to Mao Zedong's family, the west side to neighbors, and the central hall is shared by both families. Comrade Mao Zedong was born here on December 26, 1893, and lived here for 17 years. In the autumn of 1910, Mao Zedong left his hometown to pursue studies with the ambition of saving the nation and the people. Visit Mao Zedong Memorial Hall (if the Life Exhibition Area is closed, the Special Exhibition Area will be visited instead). After the visit, take a bus back to Changsha at around 16:00 and check in to your pre-booked hotel on your own.

Assemble at Apollo Square, Changsha Railway Station, at around 7:00 a.m. and depart for Zhangjiajie (total driving time: about 5 hours).
Afternoon

Immerse yourself in the "border town dream" depicted by Shen Congwen and encounter the "Cuicui" of the border town.Tuo River Tiaoyan (Stepping Stones): Located in the Tuo River channel outside the North Gate of Fenghuang Ancient City, it was first built in the 43rd year of the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty (1704 AD). In ancient times, it served as one of the main passages in and out of the city. It was a key route for attacking Fenghuang during the Qianlong-Jiaqing Miao Uprising, the Fenghuang Recovery Uprising of the 1911 Revolution, and the Liberation War.
