Starting from Lhasa, passing through Shigatse and Everest Base Camp, we arrive at Zhitabri Monastery to “obtain the sacred key” and begin the 2-day kora trek, crossing the Drolma La Pass at 5,630 meters to purify the soul.
Pilgrimage around Mount Kailash in the Year of the Horse brings doubled blessings — miss it, and you’ll wait another 12 years!
Arrive at Lhasa Gonggar Airport. Meet our representative and transfer to the city center by private vehicle. Enjoy the scenery of the Yarlung Tsangpo River along the way. Check in to the pre-booked hotel and acclimatize slowly to the high altitude to get fully prepared for the following journey.
In the early morning, visit the Potala Palace with a pre-booked entry ticket.
Stroll through the Red Palace and White Palace, admire the precious sacred stupas, century-old murals and the essence of traditional Tibetan architecture.
Climb to the top for a panoramic view of Lhasa, and take photos at Medicine Mountain for the same iconic view as on the 50-yuan banknote.
In the afternoon, take a short rest before visiting Jokhang Temple.
Pay homage to the 12-year-old statue of Sakyamuni, listen to the thousand-year-old stories of Tibetan Buddhism, and feel the profound religious atmosphere inside the temple.
Then walk along Barkhor Street, circling clockwise along the pilgrimage route.
Watch devout pilgrims circumambulating, browse unique Tibetan handicraft shops, and relax at Makye Ame while enjoying Tibetan sweet tea and local delicacies.
Immerse yourself in the culture and daily life of sacred Lhasa, and experience the perfect blend of faith and local life in Tibet.
Depart from Lhasa for Shigatse. The first stop is Yamdrok Lake, one of the three great sacred lakes in Xizang, where you can enjoy the stunning scenery of the jade-like lake reflecting the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
Then proceed to Karola Glacier, where you can admire the spectacular view of the ice tongue descending from the mountain, and feel the vastness and grandeur of the glacier.
On the way, pass by Manla Reservoir, a sapphire hidden among the mountains, and take in the beautiful lake and mountain views.
Upon arrival in Shigatse, visit Palcho Monastery. Explore the unique architecture that integrates different Buddhist traditions, appreciate the precious murals and the famous Kumbum Stupa inside the temple. Immerse yourself in the solemn atmosphere of the Tibetan Buddhist halls and experience the distinctive culture and religious charm of Central Xizang.
Throughout the journey, you will enjoy the magnificent natural scenery and profound cultural heritage of the plateau.
Depart from Shigatse in the early morning and head to Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. Admire the magnificent Tibetan architecture, precious Buddha statues and murals, and experience the solemn religious culture of Tsang region.
Continue along National Highway G318 towards Tingri County, passing Gyawula Pass (5,198 m above sea level). At the pass, enjoy the breathtaking view of five snow-capped peaks over 8,000 meters, and take photos of the spectacular “Everest 108 Bends”.
Upon arrival at Everest Base Camp, visit Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world, and gaze up at the majestic Mount Everest from the temple grounds.
Then proceed to Everest Base Camp, take photos at the 8,848.86 m elevation monument, and send postcards at the iconic Tibet Post Office.
In the evening, wait for the spectacular “Golden Peak” sunset, watching the golden sunlight glow over the summit of Mount Everest, and feel the awe and sacredness of the world’s highest peak.
Depart from Everest Base Camp for Gyirong Valley, traveling along the spectacular highland road. The first sight is Shishapangma Peak, the only 8,000-meter peak entirely within China. Gaze at this towering snow-capped summit rising above the clouds, its grandeur deeply touching the heart.
Continue to Paiku Lake, where the crystal-blue water reflects the snow mountains, creating a poetic and picturesque highland landscape.
Enter Gyirong Valley, known as the "Back Garden of Everest". Here the climate changes dramatically, with lush vegetation everywhere. Visit Kaire Waterfall, where the cascade plunges down the cliff, sending up mist, surrounded by green forests and clear springs.
Immerse yourself in the stunning transition from the desolate plateau to the exquisite canyon scenery, and experience the unique charm of this hidden treasure in western Tibet.
Depart from Gyirong for Zhongba.First, visit Naxia Village, stroll through the traditional Tibetan village, and enjoy the peaceful countryside surrounded by snow-capped mountains, experiencing the tranquility of this hidden western Tibetan gem.
Next, explore Jeep Canyon, overlook the deep canyon and rushing streams, admire the magnificent cliffs and spectacular scenery shaped by nature.
On the way, visit the ancient Palpa Monastery with a history of over a thousand years. Admire its unique Tibetan architecture blended with Nepalese style, and feel the profound religious and cultural heritage in the solemn halls.
Continue traveling from the canyon toward the heart of the plateau, where the landscape gradually transforms from lush and elegant to vast and boundless. Immerse yourself in the changing scenery from Gyirong Valley to the edge of the Qiangtang Plateau, and enjoy the wild plateau beauty along the way to Zhongba.
Depart from Zhongba in the early morning and head west along National Highway G219. After crossing the high‑altitude Mayoula Pass, you will reach Lake Manasarovar, one of the three great sacred lakes in Xizang. Stroll along the lakeshore and admire the sacred scenery of the crystal‑clear blue lake reflecting the snow‑capped mountains, experiencing the divine charm of the “Lake at the Center of the World”.
Across the hills lies Lake Rakshastal, known as the “Ghost Lake”. Explore this mysterious place, where the deep blue water blends with the wild shore, and enjoy the distant view of majestic Mount Naimona’nyi, whose peaks are mirrored on the lake surface, forming a breathtaking picture.
Continue to Zhitabri Monastery, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist temple built beside the lake. Take part in the sacred ritual of “obtaining the key”: pay homage to the sacred statues of Guru Padmasambhava and the footprints of dakinis, and circumambulate the temple 13 times (believed to equal the merit of one kora around the holy mountain). This ritual grants the blessing of the sacred mountain and symbolizes receiving the “sacred key” to begin the Kailash kora.
Arrive in Darchen in the evening and stay overnight in the town to prepare for the upcoming pilgrimage around Mount Kailash.
Depart from Darchen early in the morning to begin your Mount Kailash kora trek.Walk clockwise to the Prayer Flag Square, where you will face the full view of the holy mountain amid fluttering prayer flags and offer sincere prayers.
Follow the gentle slope along the Lhu Qu Valley, enjoying the majestic western face of Mount Kailash and the beautiful alpine meadows.The total distance is about 20 km, with a hiking time of 6–7 hours.
Arrive at Drirapuk Monastery in the evening and stay overnight.Wait quietly for the breathtaking golden sunset glow on the north face of the holy mountain, and recharge for the next day’s journey.
On the second day of the Mount Kailash trek, depart from Drirapuk Monastery and head towards Drolma La Pass at an altitude of 5,630 meters. Reach the summit to enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding holy mountains and take photos at the vast prayer flag array.
After descending, walk past alpine meadows and streams to Zuzhulung Monastery for rest and blessings. Continue along the gentle trail, passing mani stones and prayer flags along the way. The total distance is about 22 km, with a hiking time of 7–8 hours.
Finally return to Darchen, successfully completing the full kora around the holy mountain.
Drive from Darchen to Saga.Pass by Lake Gongzhu and admire the highland lake scenery with its blue waters reflecting snow-capped mountains and flying water birds.
Then visit Maquan River Wetland Park, walk along the wetland boardwalks, enjoy the vast grasslands and crisscrossing streams, and encounter wildlife such as Tibetan gazelles.Experience the wild natural beauty of the Yarlung Tsangpo River source.
Enjoy the expansive wilderness scenery of western Tibet throughout the journey and arrive at Saga County in the evening.
Depart from Saga early in the morning and return to Lhasa along National Highway 219.The first stop is Lake Nangcuo, whose crystal-clear water mirrors the sky and plateau scenery, offering perfect photo opportunities everywhere.
Then drive into Sangsang Grassland, a fine northern Tibetan pasture with endless grasslands and flocks of cattle and sheep.You may stop briefly to interact with local herders, taste butter tea, and experience the authentic nomadic culture.
Next, cross Sobilha Pass at about 4,900 meters above sea level, where prayer flags flutter in the wind.Enjoy distant views of snow-capped mountains and overlook the magnificent landscape of grasslands and streams.
After descending, road conditions improve gradually.Arrive in Lhasa in the evening, completing this wonderful journey to the hidden highland treasures.
After a delicious Tibetan breakfast in the early morning, you will be transferred by private vehicle to Lhasa Gonggar International Airport (or Lhasa Railway Station).Catch one last distant view of the golden roof of the Potala Palace and the snow-capped peaks along the way, marking the end of your unforgettable journey on the snowy plateau.
